A Juried Exhibition presented by The Painters Group of San Luis Obispo, Brushstrokes is a non-themed annual exhibition, open to all California residents. Brushstrokes represents a wide range of artistic expression in all painting mediums, including acrylic, oil, pastel, watercolor, encaustic, digital, and collage.

This year’s Juror is Frank Eber, an award-winning artist and teacher who works in oils and water media and conducts workshops nationally and internationally. He says, “Painting ​should go deeper than copying nature as it is. It should be a personal response and a characterization of what is before us and in harmony with it.”  frankeber.com

All paintings in the exhibition are originals, from the hand and eye of an artist working to express her or his vision. Artists in The Painters Group range from emerging to professional, all with an emphasis on aesthetics and technical excellence.

Brushstrokes has a long history on the Central Coast as a statewide showcase for the finest painting by California artists. The Painters Group likewise has an enduring reputation as the premier organization for painters in the region. The group holds monthly meetings that include presentations and demos, as well as peer critiques that assist artists with bringing a piece to completion. Camaraderie and social connection with other artists keep things lively!
