Work of Art: Business Skills for Artists

This Thursday, March 29th from 12 to 1:30 PM join a free, virtual workshop on Pricing. This is a workshop for artists and by artists. An analytical approach isn’t intended to be the only way to price your work. This workshop is intended to show you the factors of product production that apply to everything in the marketplace. Once you understand what each of the variables are you’ll be able to customize a formula that fits your business model. Facilitated by Kenji Tanner.

Born in Los Angeles, California, and raised by her Japanese and African American parents, Kenji was introduced at an early age to various cultures. Kenji has been profiled in the Carmel Pine Cone newspaper, radio, and interviewed on television. She has been the artist in residence for the International Blues Festival for Monterey County, for 4 years. Kenji is certified with the UCLA Healing in the Arts and has worked with the Arts Council for Monterey County as the lead teaching artist in the schools for 20 years. She also taught and led art seminars in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District for eight years, where she continues to motivate students, teachers, and all who desire to tap into their creative abilities. During the pandemic, Kenji recorded several videos on YouTube and received over 30,000 views supporting students and teachers during a crucial time. Her work has been featured in several exhibitions, galleries, schools, and art venues where she has received numerous awards. Kenji’s love for the arts makes an imprint on everyone she touches.

This event is brought to you by the Central Coast Arts Coalition as part of the California Arts Council Creative Corps program. Our “Work of Art: Business Skills for Artists” is a professional development curriculum designed to teach business skills to artists in all disciplines; the curriculum was developed by Springboard for the Arts. Artists can take the whole series, customized combinations, or individual workshops that best suit their needs.
