  • Audition: Canzona Women's Ensemble

    Dates: August 20 and August 22, 2026

    Canzona holds a unique place in the community as a champion of choral music for women’s voices. The non-profit is a selective, auditioned ensemble that includes 28-32 women from around the county. Their mission is to further a love and appreciation for women’s choral literature, to expand this literature by commissioning original pieces, and to present the music with consistent excellence.

    Downtown SLO’s inaugural Paint the Plaza event invites local artists, schools, families, and businesses to transform Mission Plaza into a vibrant and colorful artwork space for the community to enjoy! This inclusive community-centered chalk art festival will celebrate and showcase the vibrant arts community of the Central Coast.

    SLO County’s Poet Laureate is regarded by the county as its most eminent or representative poet. The Poet Laureate is selected by a committee of community leaders with significant expertise in education, poetry, civic and cultural leadership, and the literary arts.

  • Request for Proposals: Rooted in Art Lecture Series

    This unique RFP invites artists, scholars, curators, and educators to lead free public talks designed to deepen community access to arts education and creative storytelling. The SLO Public Art program and SLO County Arts collaborate to host a free lecture series of artists, art educators, and curators who share experiences and stories from the field. This year, the program is relaunching with an expanded lecture format designed to foster dialogue and increase accessibility to arts education throughout the community.
