Next up? Practical tips for boosting your command of the craft, followed by thoughts on reaching readers via marketing and promotion.
More highlights: A trio of real-time writing prompts to stir up new ideas, four-page handout, “Ask the Editor” Q&A, sample edit of three manuscript pages of fiction or nonfiction.
Presented by Laurie Gibson, the editor with three decades of experience serving writers, publishers, nonprofits (e.g., the Southern Poverty Law Center), and universities (e.g., Stanford). She’s had the honor of proofreading the work of groundbreaking novelist Alice Walker, as well as Yvon Chouinard, co-founder of Patagonia. For several years, Laurie taught editing at both UCSD and UCLA Extension. In addition to serving individual authors and publishing companies, she's also revising her first novel, inspired by British punk rockers The Clash.
